“I have never had the privilege to attend your camp. However, I am a mom of a former camper and later a counselor. Also, a grandmother of 2 current campers and a future camper. The Lord has used your camp ministry to change and mold our family in two generations. Praise the Lord! I thank Him for your faithfulness. The lessons the children learn at this camp last a lifetime. Our family has experienced salvation, dedication and closer walks with the Lord as a result of this ministry.” — Flo Orr
25th Anniversary Testimonies (2010)
“I was only fifteen and felt very important when Uncle Allen requested me to be a counselor at the very first camp at Wildwood Christian Retreat. I learned a lot about responsibility that week. I also learned that it is very difficult to win “cabin clean-up” when you are sleeping on plastic inside an army tent. I went to other camps at Wildwood, but I will always treasure that first year as a wonderful experience that helped “addict” me to the ministry of making a difference in others’ lives. Thank you, Uncle Allen and Aunt Janet, for your faithful investment in young people. You changed my life. Congratulations on 25 years of service! I love you.” — Deborah Wells, missionary to Papua New Guinea
“My first introduction to Wildwood and Brother Allen Marshall and his great love for young people hit me when he, at about fifty years old, was doing a skit called “Kung Phooey.” If you know what Kung Phooey is, you know his commitment; if you don’t, you had to be there to really see him in action! We thank our good Lord for all his love, labor and life commitment. Thanks for these many years of service to the Lord.” — Pastor Don Snow
“Praise God for such a fabulous ministry as Wildwood. It has been a joy to be a part of this ministry to our young people. The standards that the Marshalls hold you can count on from year to year. The juniors and teens are excited to return each year, and new kids look forward to the Wildwood experience. I think that says a lot about this ministry.” — Charlotte Thompson
“[The Marshalls] have played a significant role in my children’s lives and now our grandchildren’s also!! The LORD was so gracious in allowing them to start a camp here in these WV hills! It’s all in obeying His call.” — Kay Mullenax
“Thank you for your faithfulness in stepping out to heed God’s call for your family 25 years ago! Moving to the “middle of nowhere” to start a Christian camp must have seemed impossible, but God has used your obedience and step of faith to impact generations for Him. It has been encouraging to see the camp grow over the years. Only God knows what great things He has in store for Wildwood in the future! Again, thanks for your desire to serve God no matter where, no matter how! ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness!’” —Katie (Marshall) Helser
“Wow, cannot believe that it has been that long since my brother and I were there. He came a few years after Camp Wildwood actually started. Little did I know that what I was going to learn there would help me throughout my whole life. I really enjoyed that time that we spent there. Even the time getting LOST. I want to thank everyone that had a part in that year’s camp. If we had children I would definitely send them there without any hesitation at all. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. May God continue to bless you and yours.” —Jeff & Stephanie Moore, missionaries to North Dakota
“Congratulations on your 25th year at camp! You have been faithful and uncomplaining as you have been real servants to many, many people. It’s been a real step of faith for you both, and we can see God has blessed. Mom and Dad and Grandpap would not believe what has happened to that hallowed place. I was so happy to know that is what you planned for the property when Mom passed away. Grandpap loved young people and loved to watch them have fun. I think you inherited that love for young people. You make a great team, you two. May God grant you many more years to serve him.” — Larry, Pat, and David Whitehouse
“I remember when the camp was only a dream and the hill was totally undeveloped. I’ve been blessed to watch the camp develop from infancy. I remember my sister, Deborah, being a camp counselor the very first year and her reports of the rugged fun that was had by all. My very first time to be able to attend as a camper was 1990 and it was a great memory. I’ve seen the camp grow and become a beautiful place for campers to get away and rededicate their lives to the Lord. I trust that the Lord will give Camp Wildwood many more years to minister to the young people of our nation.” — Sharon Marshall Monsour
“It’s a great blessing to hear of your 25-year milestone at Wildwood Christian Retreat. I spent the majority of my summer at Wildwood for two years in a row, 1989 and 1990. I was also able to bring some youth for the summer of 1995. I have some very fond memories of that place. Soul-winning, music instruction, and local church emphasis were a part of every week. I still have the theme song for “mission impossible” memorized and I’ve been “on assignment for the Savior” ever since. I will never forget Allen saying to us all on the last day around the campfire, “Where will you be 5 years from now?” My heart was smitten by the Savior, and five years later I was driving a bus, and knocking on doors as the youth pastor at my home church. And now that I’ve been pastoring for almost 10 years, everything I watched at Wildwood is making sense. Thank you both for 25 years of Christian leadership. May God bless you both in this life and the next.” — Pastor Roger Harrison
“It is hard to believe our years at Wildwood are so long ago, that is until I look in the mirror. Paula and I do look back at our time at Wildwood with joy and thankfulness. To this day we both love to work with teens, especially in a camp setting. That desire was sparked and cultivated during our time working with Pastor and Mrs. Marshall. We are thankful for their godly influence and teaching. We know that there were times we tried their patience, but they were always gracious and encouraging. I can say without hesitation that the Marshalls were more help to us than we were to them. Paula and I thank you for your ministry to us and esteem you highly for your faithful ministry.” — Cary and Paula Grant
2009 Camper Testimonies
“Wildwood has helped me so much. The services were great, thanks to Brother Ingram. The staff is wonderful. But my favorite part was when I got saved Monday. The Lord [has] spoken to me so much throughout this week. I can’t wait to come back next summer!” — Amanda
“The Lord really dealt with me about dependence on God. I wasn’t depending on God for every single thing in my life. I was also having a hard time obeying my authorities with the right spirit. When I get home I will get that right. This week has been a big blessing in my spiritual walk with Christ.” — Anonymous camper
“The Lord has really spoken to me about witnessing. I am not really bold and need help from the Lord. Thank you for being a good example.” — Brooke
“The Lord worked in my heart about several things, but especially about soul-winning. I learned that if I depend on Him, I can have great boldness for Him.” — Sarah
“The Lord has spoken to me about authority. Thank you for being a part of the authority here at Wildwood. ” — Anonymous camper
